WELCOME
We are excited you are here and interested in being part of a creative, collaborative community. Drama Production is more than a class—it is a place where creativity, teamwork, and dedication come together to create something bigger than ourselves. Drama Production produces various plays, musicals, and other theatrical events throughout each semester. It is a graded, participation-based course that is held during 7th period with additional after-school hours based on our current production calendar, which can vary among different shows. While enrollment in the class is not required in order to audition or apply for a crew position, it is strongly recommended. Participation in the FVHS Theatre Program is a privilege, and continued participation is earned through preparation, communication, effort, and conduct.
Every rehearsal, performance, and work call depends on each member of the team, both onstage and behind the scenes. Some students shine as performers, others as designers, crew members, leaders, or problem-solvers. Wherever your strengths lie, you are essential to the process, and you will learn how your contributions impact the success of the whole.
Our goal is not simply to produce shows. Theatre at FVHS is designed to help students grow into dependable, creative problem-solvers who can collaborate with people of many backgrounds and perspectives. Over four to six years in the program, students are expected to become increasingly independent, responsible, and self-directed. The skills developed here—professionalism, accountability, adaptability, confidence, and teamwork—extend far beyond the stage and prepare students for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

Drama Production at FVHS is fun—but it is also real work. Students learn to be dependable teammates by showing up on time, coming prepared, communicating respectfully, and following through on their commitments. These are skills that matter both onstage and offstage.

Nobody walks into theatre knowing everything. New students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, try again, and learn along the way. We care more about effort and growth than perfection.
We learn by doing.
As students gain experience, we also encourage them to become more independent. Learning how to solve problems, take initiative, make decisions, and take ownership of their work is an important part of the FVHS Theatre experience. Our goal is not just to teach students how to put on a show—we want to help them become capable, confident people who are ready to take on new challenges.
