ABOUT US
Welcome to the Fountain Valley High School Theatre Program!
At Fountain Valley High School, our theater program offers a vibrant and comprehensive exploration of the theatrical arts, blending practical experience with academic learning. Our program is designed to nurture the talents of young performers, designers, and technicians through a diverse range of activities and productions. From fall plays and spring musicals to student-directed one-act plays, we provide a dynamic platform for students to showcase their skills and creativity.
Program Overview
Our high school theatre program is currently centered around an after-school production model designed to keep the heart of student theatre alive while we work toward rebuilding a full in-school curriculum. Through faculty-directed plays, student-directed works, and expanded community outreach—including opportunities for middle school students to participate—we are continuing to provide meaningful theatrical experiences that develop both artistic skill and personal confidence.
While in past years the program included multiple class sections such as Beginning and Advanced Drama, Technical Theater, and Stagecraft, our long-term goal is to return to a full schedule of in-school classes that provide a comprehensive theater education. In the meantime, students will continue to grow through hands-on production experience, guest artist workshops, and participation in regional theater festivals—ensuring they stay connected to professional practices and the broader theater community.
History and Achievements
With a legacy of excellence, the Fountain Valley High School Theatre program has achieved recognition at both regional and state levels. Our innovative productions and high-quality technical design have earned numerous awards, showcasing the dedication and talent of our students and faculty. Key milestones include a repertoire of diverse and challenging plays and musicals that push creative boundaries and elevate the theatrical experience.
Student Involvement
Student engagement is central to our program. Each student plays a vital role in productions, from acting and directing to set design, lighting, sound, and costume creation. Leadership opportunities abound, with students taking on roles such as stage managers, assistant directors, and technical crew leads. We foster a collaborative environment where creativity flourishes, and students gain skills that extend beyond the stage.
Community and Culture
Our theater program is celebrated for its inclusive and supportive atmosphere. We create a strong sense of community where students from varied backgrounds unite through their passion for the arts. Our culture emphasizes respect, teamwork, and artistic exploration, ensuring that every student feels valued and empowered. This nurturing environment fosters lifelong friendships and a deep love for theater.
Future Goals
As we look to the future, our goals include expanding our repertoire with contemporary and diverse works, increasing student involvement across all aspects of production, and upgrading our technical resources. We also aim to strengthen connections with local elementary and middle school theater programs to build a robust pipeline of future talent.
Through these initiatives, we strive to inspire and empower students, harnessing the transformative power of theater to enrich their lives and communities.
Join us in celebrating the artistry and innovation that define the Fountain Valley High School Theatre program, where every performance is a testament to the passion and dedication of our students and staff.
